About Us: President's Letter

Greetings Fellow GIS Fan,

Welcome to the 3-GIS website. We continue on our upward trajectory and the landscape continues to change for the corporation. There's certainly never a dull moment with a new vibrant company. The Express Suite has grown with two new additions to the family and we have finally introduced the entire reason for starting the company in the first place - Network Express is born. Speaking of additions, we continue to expand the company as well. Since my last writing, we have grown to 19 employees with over half now dedicated to service offerings.

Project top-spin continues and our mantra is still well in place…EMBRACE SIMPLICITY. As long-term ESRI partners, we identified ArcGIS Server as a disruptive technology that will allow us to meet what so many companies have been asking for quite some time now - the ability to deliver interactive, editable maps on thin clients. Our first product was Express Server (xS) linked with Field Express Chameleon (FxC). Express Server functions as the backoffice engine for our entire suite of developing products. Field Express Chameleon is a mapping application that runs on anything from a cell phone to a complete PC. A key to the product in the GIS market is its ability to change its GUI (aka User Experience) based on the job at hand as well as to provide instant updates to the GIS database over the cellular network. Using store-and-forward technology, the user is still able to function whenever connectivity is lost with no disruption in duties.

The epitomy of our mantra now lies in Network Express (Nx). Network Express is a true web-based solution with no client requirements other than an Internet browser (Mozilla, IE). Network Express provides a full geo-editing experience along with synchronized schematic generation. The heavy-weight offerings of the competition are all significant IT burdens and overhead when compared to our visionary products of asset management. When it comes to TCO, or Total Cost of Ownership, we turn the equation on its ear - we can literally deliver an OSP solution as an appliance, as a remotely hosted solution, or as a locally hosted (typical) installation.

If you've already got your OSP solution but still need a way to generate schematics of your network, we now offer Schematics Express. Schematics Express provides a simple intuitive tool kit to create schematic layouts on the fly with none of the complexity or trickery that has been prevalent in the past. Expressly Simple!

TIMS, our Transmission Inspections and Maintenance System we recently adopted from EPRI, has completed its transformation and modernization. TIMS 5.0, our first formal release of the "new" TIMS, has just passed certification testing from EPRI. If you have a need for detailed transmission facility inspection, power or cellular, give us a call to setup a demonstration or facilitate a discussion.

I am incredibly excited and enthusiastic about the possibilities presented today with server-based technology. With our suite, I can promise you one thing for sure; we will take complexity out of your GIS and make your life easier and cheaper to manage. If you would be interested in seeing our Express Suite, TIMS, learn about our implementation and integration methodology or just find out more about 3-GIS, please contact us and we'll be happy to answer your questions. Thanks for visiting our website and I hope you are intrigued by what you discover here.

Yours truly,

Tom Counts
