Ramp Up Quickly

Once the data is entered into a city, county or states GIS geodatabase, outside agencies can access actionable information coming out. WebEOC and other organizations can then begin to understand the spatial relationship of the impact as well as the degree of damage as spatially represented. The information coming was quickly ramped up to include more detailed information on parcels, addresses, damage assessment, FEMA Right of Ways, and other actionable intelligence configured in to the software by administrative agencies.

Streamlined Progress

Jefferson County had recently mobilized Express Solution just before the April 27 Tornado swarms that devastated areas of Northern Alabama. Shortly after the storms struck their community, JCEMA with assistance from 3-GIS, dispatched crews with mobile devices equipped with cameras and documented the parcels and homes affected. . These efforts trimmed weeks off the recovery effort versus the old paper method and confined software that was limited to a few administrators is now available for many agencies to access immediately.

3-GIS has also been assisting the Franklin County Consortium in damage assessment. 3-GIS created the Alabama Storm Tracker URL, a service showing, not only the storm track, but also a fly-over from immediately after the tornado and post storm photos associated with each structure with the storm path. 3-GIS’s Alabama Storm Tracker URL is used by local community agencies to identify where they need to concentrate efforts for cleanup, power, water issues, FEMA for quick response, and others in the community to determine how and where to help.
